  1. Sign in at the office at noon and get an ID badge.

  2. Volunteers for grades 5-8 go to the hall to help with the distribution of hot lunch. Take the trays labeled with grade and table number from the window counter and place on the table. The students will take their lunches from the table.

  3. Volunteers for grades 1-4 go to the classroom to lead the children to the play area. On rainy days, volunteers stay in the classroom and supervise the children. Each teacher has a rainy day recess policy that you need to be familiar with. No students are allowed to run indoors, visit other classrooms, or congregate in the halls. Encourage the children to use the restroom (no more than two at a time) during indoor recess.

  4. While on the playground it is the volunteer's responsibility to vigilantly supervise the children and to enforce the rules. If children are misbehaving, please escort them to the teacher on duty. Any injuries should be reported to the nurse or teacher on duty.

  5. At 12:25 the teacher on duty will lead Grace After Meals and ring the bell to line up. Please remind students to clean up, then lead the line out to the playground.

  6. Students in grades 1-4 enter the hall and go to their tables. Parent volunteers get the hot lunches from the window counter and help distribute at the tables. The teacher on duty will lead the students in Grace Before Meals. Once the hot lunch is distributed, assist students with milk. Remind them to stay focused on eating, to throw away trash when the lunch is completed, and to stay seated until the bell rings at 12:45.  Students should remain seated until their teacher arrives.

  7. After the students leave, volunteers wash the tables and push them and the chairs against the wall. Volunteers sign out at the office at 1PM and return the ID badge.

  8. Lunch and recess monitors earn 1 hour toward the 20 hour requirement every time they serve. Volunteers who are scheduled to work and are unable to attend are urged to find a replacement.  If you are not able to find a substitute, please contact the school office or classroom teacher as soon as possible.

  9. All lunch and recess volunteers must be in compliance with the Archdiocesan requirements for volunteers who have substantial contact with children and agree to respect each child's privacy.   Please all the school office for more information on STAND.
